BIG STEPS FOR THOMPSON AND REPLI-CAST, AT RACE OF THE YEAR

Published on 03/11/14 By Shar Bradford

The last race weekend of the season for Team Repli-Cast UK Racing saw the York based Joe Thompson make significant progress with his Honda Powered Moto3 Machine, by finishing a stunning 2nd place in the first race at Mallory Park "Race of the Year". With the weather looking set to be raining all day, Joe worked with his crew to get his bike dialled-in to the Leicestershire Circuit and to find the right balance of grip and consistency in readiness for the two races.

With a majority of entrants from the British Superbike Motul Motostar Championship making an appearance at Mallory, it was a clear indicator of where Joe would finish with his regular crowd. Joe qualified with the 5th quickest time overall, producing a lap to take a stunning second row start for the first race of the day.

In race one Joe got a fantastic start and was in fifth at the end of the first lap. He made up a couple of places in the early stages, before getting involved in a four-way battle for the higher places. The Yorkshire youngster battled hard on his Honda Powered Repli-Cast Moto3 to try and make in-roads into the top three. He then produced two superb laps to make his way up to 3rd position by the end of lap six and continued through the field. Joe felt more at home on his machine as he continued to build in confidence and with just two laps to go he moved up into 2nd position to which he held to the chequered flag. A great result and stunning performance from Joe, making big steps forward with his race craft on the Moto3 machine.

In race two Joe got another fantastic start and was second going in to the first corner, he managed to hold that position for two laps before a technical issue forced him to pull in to the pits, getting the all clear but still with the problem, he re-joined the race in last place and then had the task of chasing down the field, he rode his absolute heart out to catch up with the field, but was a lap down so had to settle for his position. Joe's riding in the last race was perfect; he kept his head and was by far the fastest on track, even with a technical problem. He showed his potential of championship winning qualities, aggression and race craft. Great riding today from a great racer, and only 16 years old. A clear sign of things to come next year.

Joe's results today were just reward for him and his crew, and they left on a positive footing as they head to the winter break.

Gary Dawson - Team Manager

"It's been an impressive weekend's work for Joe.

The first race was exactly the right balance between pushing hard when he needed to and settling for a fantastic podium at the end of the race.

Race two was a disappointment but a better performance in many ways, there was an electrical problem, which in most circumstances a rider would call unridable, but we decided to send Joe out as it was the last race of the year and he was unbelievable, even on the last lap of the race was looking to be the fastest rider on track. Race two was a definite podium at worst and a hard fight for the win at best, it didn't happen but that shouldn't detract from what was a stunning day's work.

I am so happy that I saw this weekend, the Joe I spotted at Donington, I wanted him to show me the courage and determination like that again and he did, in great style, I am proud to say that we have signed him for the 2015 season and will develop with him to continue on this."

Joe Thompson - Team Rider #74

"I Had a really good day at Mallory Park today battling it out with some other riders from British Superbike Moto3, it was wet all day and I felt really confident with myself and the bike. I came 2nd in the first race which was great against the usual crowd. Unfortunately I had a problem in the last race which made me come into the pits. We still managed to get back out for a few laps in last place but still had lots of fun!

I am over the moon to announce that I will be racing in the British Motostar Championship in the 2015 for Repli-Cast UK Racing! Thanks to all the team and my Dad for this opportunity!
Bring on 2015"

PODIUM AND TOP TEN RESULT AT BRANDS HATCH FINALE

Published on 20/10/14 By Shar Bradford

Team Repli-Cast UK Racing, Scott Redding backed racer Charlie Nesbitt thrilled the fans yesterday with a podium in the Season Finale of the Motul Motostar Championship race at Brands Hatch, with Joe Thompson securing a top ten finish, coming home in 7th position.

Charlie and his teammate Joe got down to business with their respective Honda Moto3 machines during the two free practice sessions on friday, on a very wet and greasy Brands Hatch circuit. A tentative start saw riders carefully judging the track conditions, but with minutes to go the times began to come. Charlie initially took second position as the countdown struck, with Joe finishing just inside the top ten.

Nesbitt almost clinched the Moto3 pole position for the start of Sunday's race in Saturday's combined Qualifying sessions. Bettering his lap times again, but with other riders still on track succeeding in getting a tow off of Charlie, he just missed the opportunity for a final flying lap. Finishing the session with a time of 1:37.834, just 0.089 off of pole, he lines up on the second row for sunday's race. An amazing result with the tricky track conditions. Having feeling more confident with his Honda Moto3 machine in the Fridays' free practice sessions, Thompson struggled to replicate the feeling for the Qualifying sessions, preventing him getting the best out of himself in the difficult conditions. The York based youngster concluded the qualifying session frustrated with 9th place, but determined to make it count come race day.

Race day and 13-year-old Charlie consolidated his seasons best with a very quick start on his Honda powered Repli-Cast Moto3 by aiming straight for the front, taking third before the first lap was completed and holding it for six revolutions before a battle between Durham and Uribe started to heat up. Mid-race saw the Swindon-based rider battling for second on a number of occasions making a move on Durham on lap seven and pulling a gap from him, bringing with him Californian Uribe.

Charlie fought tirelessly for the latter part of the race, keeping all his lines perfect and keeping a mature head on his young shoulders, before Uribe made a pass on him and made it stick, still holding on to the back of him, Charlie was fighting tooth and nail right up to the line for a photo finish between the two, Charlie coming home in 3rd position, just 0.017 away from 2nd. In-front of the cheering crowds, Charlie rode a phenomenal race, at just the tender age of 13 he proved that when it comes down to the job in hand, he has fantastic race craft and a head on him that proceeds him. Scoring 16 valuable championship points, finishing the Championship season in a fantastic 6th place.

16-year-old, York based Thompson had a similar battle in the day's race. He got off to a good start, but struggling to adapt his Honda powered Moto3 to suit his style at the very challenging Brands Hatch GP Circuit Joe managed to salvage a seventh place finish in the day's race after running a somewhat solitary yet consistent pace for the 12 lap duration. The Yorkshire youngster battled with Dutch man Hermansson, Cat Green and Greg Greenwood, he got the better of them on lap seven, making his move stick, pulling away from the pack, to eventually consolidate a top ten finish in seventh. Bringing home another 9 points for the Championship, moving him to 9th position in the standings.

The season finale was a fantastic end to a great season.

Gary Dawson - Team Manager

"What an end to a fantastic season.
We are all so proud of both our riders who finished the championship in the top 10 in their first rookie season at BSB.

I would like to thank all my team for the massive effort put in each an every race to make sure everything goes to plan. A big thank you to all BSB Staff, Medics & Marshalls, all our fantastic sponsors and fans and last but not least Scott Redding who shows us all what hard work and dedication gets you. Work Hard, Play Hard, Work Harder.....Thank You All."

Charlie Nesbitt - Team Rider #86

"After the bitter disappointment at Silverstone I went to the last round of the season very determined to finish the season on a positive note.
We had some changeable conditions all weekend but I managed to keep my Scott Redding backed Replicast Moto3 towards the top of the time sheets in every session and couldn't wait for the race and what a great race it turned out to be. I was in a four way battle for most of the race and loved every second of it I finished in fourth place overall 0.012 off of third but this still gave me third in the moto3 class, still buzzing now.

This season has been one of the best race seasons of my life so far and the support I have had from the team and all my sponsors has allowed me to grow my confidence with the bike and what it is capable of doing.

I have had some tremendous support this season and would like to thank Gary Dawson, Richard Slinn, Scott Redding, Simon Whatley of SRS, Warren and Liz from World Fulfilment, Adam Cooke, Shar Bradford of SB media Solutions, Julian Hayward from Minimoto racing, 151 thermals. Steve Whyte from Swindon Electricals, James Ansell of Gloucester Bike Specialist and Dad, Granddad and Mum for all their support and effort to get me here and also everyone who has supported me this year!
So proud to say that we have been signed again for Repli-Cast Racing next season, think it's going to be a long winter, can't wait already!"

Joe Thompson - Team Rider #74

"Tough weekend at Brands Hatch, was mixed conditions all weekend but we grabbed 13th place overall in the race.

The team worked excellent and the bike never missed a beat. Hopefully we will be able to come back stronger at Mallory Park for the Race of the year.

Thanks to all the teams sponsors and everyone that has supported us."
